Luckily for you, we're here to break down one of the most popular web hosts on the market today, HostGator, to see if you need what you need to run a successful website without running yourself to the ground with site issues.
Hostgator review, there are some things you should be aware of before I decide to sign up
If you give me your 10 minutes, I'll give you all the information you need about their web hosting services, such as answering questions:
- What features does Hostgator offer to its clients?
- Are there different plans available?
- How much does Hostgator Hosting cost?
- What kind of web hosting do they provide to website owners?

(Almost) Everything is limitless
Save for the most basic shared hosting packages that Hostgator offers that limit domains to 1 Unlimited everything (better sorted - see below) Otherwise it's a great deal because their plans are so cheap
Unlimited disk space means you can store as much data as you need. Uninterrupted disk space allows the seemingly unlimited growth of your website when using an affordable shared hosting plan.
Having unmetered bandwidth means you can move an unlimited amount of data between your host server, your site visitors and the Internet. This is great for ensuring the speed and effectiveness of your website, especially in a collaborative plan.
You will also get unlimited databases, which means you can have much more WordPress installed as you want. This is good for those who have a lot of clients and want to check the website changes before putting them live.
"Unlimited" hosting is a myth and at least Hostgator is clear about the limitations of using their resources. Unless you offer them "everything unlimited":
Do not use more than 25% of the server's central processing unit (CPU)
- Do not run more than 25 processes simultaneously in a cipanel
- There are no more than 25 MySQL connections at once
- Do not create more than 100,000 files in Cipanel
- Do not check more than 30 emails per hour
- Do not send more than 500 emails per hour
- However, there are no restrictions:
- The bandwidth you use
- Email accounts you created
Cons
Like everything else, there are going to be some difficulties with using such a cheap, web hosting solution. Let's take a look at some of the ways they can work and see if they can influence your final decision.
Limited features
While the features provided are quite standard and unlimited everything is great, the truth is, Hostgator does not offer an extra lot to shared hosting users.
Since this type of hosting is not managed, you need to manage the administrative work that your website needs, on your own. This means daily backups (although they will do weekly backups), updates to any core, plugin or themes you use (unless you're a little more expensive with WordPress hosting) and security is all your responsibility.
Expensive domain
While they offer the advantage of managing everything related to the domain, few of them notice that the price of the domain name is a bit higher.
This is good to know because if you decide to take a shared plan, you can always renew your domain for free and with any other less expensive company and manage your DNS directly from cPanel to Hostgator.
It is part of EIG
Again, I will not try to suppress you whenever it comes to Endurance International Group (EIG). However, most people who will review hosting companies will say that a hosting company that is part of EIG, runs the risk of gaining a bad reputation.
Because if you go with the hosting company A (it's part of the EIG and you don't know it) and have a bad experience, and move to the hosting company B (part of the EIG and you don't know it), who's to say that your Is the experience going to get better?
Just be aware that Hostgator is a part of this organization and the way AIG runs things is probably spread over how Hostgator handles things.
Should I recommend Hostgator?
For those looking for a simple, inexpensive shared hosting solution, yes I think Hostgator should be an option to consider.
